Research has strongly suggested that certain well-known South African musicians may have Zimbabwean origin. Given the proximity of Zimbabwe and South Africa, this is hardly surprising. Some artists have become so ingrained in the South African music industry that natives may mistake them for natives themselves. If you’re not familiar with South African music, you should check out these Zimbabwean artists that are huge there.

Oskido

Oscar Sibonginkosi Mdlongwa, better known by his stage name Oskido, is a successful musician and record producer in his native Zimbabwe. Dj Oskido is the son of a Zimbabwean politician, Esaf Mdlongwa, and a South African woman, Emily Sophia Molifi. The maternal side of his family has South African roots. Oskito, though born in England, spent his formative years in the town of Luwefa in Zimbabwe. He spent many of his formative years there, gaining an education in the basics.

Brown began performing in-room concerts and producing original songs in 2004. He later went on to join Muungu Africa, best known for their smash hit “Lazaro.” He has since invested a great deal of time and energy into making a name for himself in the music industry. His current affiliation is with Open Mic Productions.

Mr. Brown has worked with some renowned South African musicians. Makhadzi, Black Motion, Master KG, Niniolu, Zanda Zakuza, and Sho Madjozi are just some of the names you’ll recognize. In addition, he collaborated with Master KG and Zanda Zakuza on the popular tune “Skeleton Move,” and he produced Nomcebo Zikode’s “Xola moya wami.”

Sha Sha:

Singer and composer Charmaine Shamiso Mapimpiro, better known by her stage name Sha Sha, was born in Zimbabwe but now resides in Mutare, South Africa. In 2011, Salsa began her career as a songwriter. At the time, she was only 19 years old.

Sha Sha is currently considered as the “Queen of Amapiano” after working with prominent South African amapiano producers such as DJ Maphorisa and Kabza de Small. Since she won the BET Award for Best New International Act in 2020, her star has skyrocketed to legendary status.

Nadia Nakai is a popular Mzansi singer and rapper. She was born in Zimbabwe. This rapper and TV host was born in South Africa, but he has since relocated to Zimbabwe. Her parents were both born in what is now Zimbabwe. Neither one of them was born in the United States. She’s made a name for herself in the local music industry via her dedication and skill. Those who adore her have anointed her “Queen of Braga.”

Berita

Indications from Gugulethu (Berita Gugulethu) Khumalo, better known by his stage name Berita, is a famous musician from Zimbabwe. Her music fits under the afrosoul genre.

Before relocating to New Zealand, Berita got to spend a good chunk of her youth in Zimbabwe. She then uprooted to her current location in South Africa.

She incorporates elements of soul, pop, South African dance, and African jazz into her sound. She uses a variety of styles in her music. She is the leader of the independent record label Assali Music and a vocalist in her own right. Berita also started a group for African women in the music industry called WOMB.

To Gigi Lamayne:
The South African rapper Gigi Lamayne was born Genesis Gabriella Tina Manney. Zimbabwe was the homeland of their ancestors. Although she was born in South Africa, Gigi Lamayne was a citizen of Zimbabwe. Sarah is the name of her mother, and she was born in
